Pentucket Workshop Preschool is an independent, private preschool in Georgetown, Mass, serving the local community since 1972. We are licensed for thirty-six children, but currently are enrolled at 70% capacity. 

 

PWP is seeking to hire an enthusiastic, flexible Preschool Assistant Teacher to work in our play based, team taught, multi-age (2.9-5) open classroom. The ideal candidate will help bring joy and discovery to the early childhood education we provide, in accordance with the philosophy, goals and curricula of the program.

 

We operate a full day (7:30-4) preschool program September – June.

A Preschool Assistant Teacher is responsible for the supportive management of the classroom and assists in implementing activities, helping to create and maintain a culture of health and safety, both physical and emotional, and contributing to the overall operation of the program.

 

The ideal candidate should be highly communicative, and flexible and work with the Lead Teachers as part of the team. They should maintain a helpful attitude to support students as they learn to problem solve and develop self-help skills on their own.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet all current and future DEEC requirements relevant to this position (Background Record Check, First Aid and CPR, training, etc.)
  • Assist teachers with the daily implementation of classroom routine by:
    • Supervising individual activities during discovery play
    • Planning a group time, short story, and activity
    • Reading a story to individual or small groups of children
    • Setting up tabletop activities
    • Assisting children making classroom transitions
    • Assisting children with toileting
    • Assisting children with self-help tasks
    • Assisting in serving snack
    • Helping children with clean up chores
    • Participating in daily clean up responsibilities
    • Assisting with play yard supervision

 

In addition, An Assistant Teacher will:

  • Assist in writing Progress Reports for assigned children
  • Participate in staff meetings and in-service trainings
  • Participate in school activities involving parents or the wider community
  • Participate in parent conferences, as appropriate with another teacher
  • Participate in monthly sign-up activities including, but not limited to bulletin boards, song sheets, young artists board, etc. 
  • Participate in school wide cleaning sessions to be held TBD
  • Other duties as requested by the Director, Assistant Director, or Lead Teacher

 

Schedule and Salary Range:

               The position is a three-day schedule: M,W,F 8:30-1:00pm, with occasional                  afternoon coverage until 4pm.

               Other schedules may be available

               This is an hourly position, rate TBD. We offer paid school vacation weeks, a                401K Plan and free tuition for teacher’s child

               We provide support for continuing early childhood education leading to                      Teacher/Lead teacher status
