AEL is hiring for a Paralegal position in our New York City office. AEL is a boutique law firm that specializes in government investigations and enforcement defense, white collar criminal defense, regulatory and compliance advising, internal investigations, and complex civil litigation, with a particular expertise and focus on the healthcare industry, False Claims Act and Antikickback cases, and parallel criminal and civil investigations and cases. Paralegals at AEL are typically recent college graduates with an exceptional academic record with an interest in pursuing further studies in law or law-related fields. We are seeking highly motivated individuals who want to learn, take on responsibility, and become a substantive part of our thriving practice. AEL is a modern law practice with hybrid remote work policies and a collaborative environment. 

Job Description

• Review and organize documents and materials received from clients, government agencies and entities, and adverse parties
• Prepare reports and synthesize information and data
• Participate in client and government meetings, interviews, proffers, and court hearings, including plea hearings and sentencing hearings
• Conduct research 
• Review and edit motions and Firm correspondence
• Administrative tasks regarding Firm management 

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or higher (or anticipated completion of a bachelors degree in 2024)
• Excellent academic transcript and writing skills
• Interest in the legal profession, litigation and criminal justice
• Desire to work in a small firm environment
• Team player with strong communication skills

Salary

Dependent upon experience and qualifications; range between $45,000 and $60,000
