PLANT OPERATOR I

Texarkana Water Utilities is accepting applications for the position of Plant Operator I. This is skilled work in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant during permanent or rotating shift. Inspects wastewater plant equipment and machinery to determine that all machinery is operating properly; takes samples of effluent and sludge at various stages of the treatment process, performs routine laboratory and bacteriological analysis to determine effectiveness of treatment procedures and record results.

Requirements: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a GED. Requires being able to climb ladders and do heavy lifting. Possession of a State of Texas Class C Wastewater Operator Certification and State of Arkansas Class II Wastewater Operator’s Certification or the ability to obtain same within two years of employment. Must have a home telephone or be able to be contacted in the event of an emergency work situation.  A valid driver’s license from state of residence is required.

Salary: $39,520 / $19.00 hourly
