Job: Underwriter/Credit Specialist

Position Reports To: Credit Supervisor

Basic Functions:

The primary functions of a Underwriter/Credit Specialist are to receive loan applications in the indirect lending software, proficiently analyze and decision them, as well as audit and process funding packages for accuracy and completion. A Credit Specialist is required to establish and foster positive, professional relationships with our dealer network and credit union partners, providing outstanding service.

Essential Functions

  • Review and decision credit applications in a timely manner, according to the underwriting criteria of the applicable credit union
  • Research and analyze all options prior to denying a credit request
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of the indirect lending software system.
  • Review funding packages for accuracy and completeness in a timely manner
  • Follow up and resolve any issues that make funding packages incomplete
  • Communicate effectively with dealers and credit unions, providing accurate information concerning loan status.
  • Maintain positive, productive relationships with automobile dealers, credit unions, and other agencies/organizations associated with Credit Union Auto Finance.
  • Assist with answering the phones, deliveries, and other office operational tasks
  • Required to work flexible/extended hours
  • Required to work one or two Saturday’s per month.

Other

  • Participate in special assignments and projects as requested by management

Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of state and federal consumer lending regulations including Regulation Z, Regulation B, Fair Credit Report Act and all other applicable regulations.
  • Working knowledge of organization’s policies/procedures and credit guidelines set forth by each respective credit union
  • Must understand the importance of confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and use of the internet

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
