Overview

  • Location:  Sugar Land, 77479
  • Compensation:  ~$20/hour
  • Total hours:  20 hours per week
  • Shifts available:  
    • Beginning February 1st, we are also looking to fill the Mon - Fri 9 am - 3 pm shift
    • Sat & Sun - Morning shift (9 am -3 pm) 
    • Sat & Sun - Evening shift (3 - 9 pm)

Full job description

We are looking for a long-term caregiver to support our brother who can help him with activities of daily living through hands-on assistance, supervision or cueing and helping him learn to care for himself. 

About our brother  

Conditions:

  • Autistic
  • Intellectual disability (31 years old, but has the intellectual capacity of a 4 year old)
  • Fully mobile, but limited speech (speaks in words, phrases, and some sentences)
  • Seizures (only when asleep and very rare now)

More about him: 

  • Loves music and dancing (takes piano lessons and knows all of the lyrics to most NSYNC songs)
  • Enjoys playing simple games such as Uno and Jenga
  • Enjoys helping with cooking and especially loves sharing the food he and his caregiver cooked together
  • Likes helping around the house and doing chores, especially anything that he can see the results of his work!
  • Loves movies and TV, especially from the 90’s - some of his favorites are Full House, Tarzan, Bollywood movies
  • Loves talking to people and is practicing better conversational skills, such as listening, asking different kinds of questions, etc. 

Job responsibilities 

  • Help with daily caretaking: eating, grooming, dressing, bathing (note: bathing not required for evening shifts) 
  • Services to help the individual learn how to care for themselves
  • Assist with behavioral, speech, and physical therapy exercises
  • Cook meals with him and teach him how to cook
  • Do necessary light housekeeping to maintain a sanitary and safe environment & teach him housekeeping
  • Provide emotional support
  • Inform parent about uncommon events
  • Assist with teaching appropriate behaviors
  • Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
  • Keep him safe and respect privacy and confidential information

Experience in housekeeping tasks and caring for individuals with disabilities will make you a strong candidate. You must be 18 years old.
