AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM / VISUAL ARTS FACILITATOR

Hearts on Fire nonprofit organization, an art and music program empowering youth through the arts, in conjunction with Mt. Pisgah Christian Community, is seeking a well-rounded Afterschool Program / Visual Arts Facilitator for the Hearts on Fire Afterschool program in partnership with the Pittsburgh Public Schools OST program. Hearts on Fire offers arts enrichment to youth of all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities in the surrounding regions of Greentree, PA. All program offerings are based on a theme supporting wholeness and well-being and consists of workshops, events, on-going classes and summer camps in the areas of mixed media, painting, drawing, collage, drumming, voice and music. Hearts on Fire Afterschool program offers support to families and students in multiple areas such as providing adult supervision, homework assistance and engagement in a fun, self-esteem building arts activity.
The Afterschool Program Facilitator will be responsible for facilitating the daily operations and activities involved in the Afterschool program, working closely with the Hearts on Fire, Executive Director. Our ideal candidate will focus on the following essential duties and responsibilities: (80% Program Facilitation, 10% Activity & Program Planning, 5% Snack Preparation, 5% Administrative Tasks)
Emphasis on daily program facilitation of Hearts on Fire program to a diverse group of elementary aged participants. Includes engaging and positive adult supervision, homework assistance, where needed and a visual arts activity based around a Hearts on Fire theme.
Assist Hearts on Fire Executive Director, other facilitators and volunteers with day-to-day activity and program facilitation.
Work collaboratively and professionally with a varied group of colleagues.
Interact with culturally diverse students and families with a high level of energy and enthusiasm
Communicate clearly and effectively to express concerns and needs to Hearts on Fire Executive Director.
Perform administrative tasks such as maintain an organized and clean work space, keep track of supply inventory, make supply requests when needed and keep track of student attendance.
Other duties as assigned.
Applicants must have a college degree in a related field, plus at least 2 years of related experience, or 6 years of related experience without a college degree. Visual Arts or Elementary Education degree, a plus. Comprehension of the Spanish language or other foreign languages or ESL experience, a plus. Applicants must be comfortable and enjoy working with elementary-age students. Applicants should be flexible and comfortable in several different artistic mediums. The position is part-time averaging 10 hours per week (possibly more) starting Monday/Friday 3:45-6:15 pm at our on-site location 2350 Noblestown Road and Tuesday/Thursday 3:15-5:30 pm at off-site program at Banksville Elementary School. (Wednesday may be added).
