Dietary Technician MADO Healthcare
MADO Healthcare partners with persons who live with mental illness to offer hope in recovery and wellness. MADO Healthcare has four facilities, a skilled nursing facility which serves individuals with behavioral health presentations, and three specialized mental health facilities which serve individuals with a primary mental health diagnosis.
Summary of duties and responsibilities:
· The Dietary Technician (DT) provides oversight and recommendations regarding foodservice and dietary operations and with the guidance of a consulting Registered Dietitian (RD) and/or Nursing;
· Recommends changes and improvements to foodservice and dietary operations to the Executive Director/Administrator with the guidance of a consulting Registered Dietitian (RD);
· Monitors weight, height, BMI for each resident client;
· Participates in care planning and discharge meetings;
· Responds, with input from the RD and Nursing, to questions from resident clients and their families about their nutrition care plan;
· Follows RD and physician orders on intervention responses, including documenting outcomes and providing facts or assessment results indicating a need to adjust the resident clients’ dietary plans;
· Ensures Food Services receives any special nutritional needs and related information such as food allergies for individual resident clients;
· Monitors compliance with nutrition orders and recommendations; and,
· Participates in discharge planning process related to nutritional needs of the individual.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
· Associate degree or pending bachelor’s degree in nutrition and Dietetics or graduate of an accredited dietetic technician program.
· One or more years’ experience in a mental health care setting preferred.
· Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain courteous relationships with clients, families, supervisors and visitors of the facility.
· Must be free of a criminal background that is a Disqualifying Offense as defined by the Illinois Department of Public Health
