We are seeking an Intermediate Chemical/Process Design Engineer who will play a crucial role in our project teams, contributing to the design, analysis, and optimization of industrial and cryogenic piping systems. You will work closely with senior engineers and project managers to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of our products and services, ultimately supporting our mission to provide cutting-edge solutions for helium and hydrogen applications.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and optimize process design solutions for industrial and cryogenic piping systems. This includes conducting process simulations, mass and energy balances, and feasibility studies.
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations to ensure the integrity and efficiency of the piping systems. This may involve pressure drop calculations, heat transfer analysis, and fluid dynamics studies.
  • Assist in the selection of appropriate materials, considering factors such as temperature, pressure, and compatibility with helium and hydrogen to ensure the reliability and safety of the piping systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to cryogenic and industrial piping systems and ensure all designs are in compliance.
  • Prioritize safety in design and operational procedures, identifying potential hazards and implementing safety measures to minimize risks associated with handling helium and hydrogen.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and structural engineers, project managers, and clients, to develop integrated solutions that meet project objectives.
  • Prepare detailed design reports, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and other technical documents to convey design concepts and facilitate project execution.
  • Contribute to quality control and assurance processes to ensure that the final product meets the high standards of the company and the expectations of the client.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices in cryogenic and industrial piping, and actively seek opportunities for professional development and training.

Required Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, or related field with specialization in Process  Control, Process Design or Development, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques; thermal analysis; statistics; spectroscopy; high vacuum and electro-analytical techniques and cryogenics 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in process design and engineering, ideally with a focus on cryogenic and industrial piping systems.
  • Strong knowledge of helium and hydrogen applications, their unique challenges, and associated safety precautions.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software, such as Aspen HYSYS or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes, including ASME, API, and others.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
