Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and skilled butcher to join our restaurant team in Long Branch, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have a passion for high-quality meats and a strong commitment to providing exceptional service to our guests. As a butcher, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and presentation of our meat offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect meat deliveries, ensuring freshness and quality.
  • Expertly cut, trim, and portion meats according to our restaurant's specifications.
  • Prepare specialty cuts and custom orders to meet guest preferences.
  • Create unique and signature cuts to enhance the restaurant's menu offerings.
  • Develop and implement creative ideas for value-added meat products and special cuts.
  • Work closely with our chefs to ensure seamless integration of meat offerings in the menu.
  • Provide expert advice on cooking techniques and recommendations for different cuts.
  • Interact with guests to understand their preferences and provide expert guidance on meat selections.
  • Offer cooking tips and suggest pairings to enhance their dining experience.
  • Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene standards, in compliance with local health regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including regular cleaning and sanitization of equipment and utensils.
  • Monitor meat inventory levels and communicate with the procurement team to ensure timely replenishment.
  • Implement effective rotation practices to maintain product freshness.
  • Ensure all meat handling practices adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, sales, and product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a butcher in a restaurant setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of various cuts of meat and proficiency in precise meat preparation techniques.
  • Strong understanding of food safety standards and sanitation practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal training in meat processing or culinary arts is a plus.

Certifications:

  • Possession of relevant certifications in food safety and handling is preferred.
