So many things are different about child care after the pandemic, but ChildRoots’ commitment to ------------ Break Support and Substitute Teachers to start immediately.

If you’re passionate about providing young children with a supportive learning environment and helping them explore their capacity for independence, you’re a kindred spirit, and we’d like to connect with you!

Break Support works a guaranteed number of hours per week, working in 2-3 classrooms per day, offering Teachers breaks and lunches. This role is perfect for someone who's adaptable, adventurous, and excited to be a valued part of several stable classroom groups.

A Part-Time Substitute works when they're available and when we need help covering for staff members who are sick or taking time off - a perfect role for someone looking for rewarding work but also plenty of time for other pursuits.

A Full-time Substitute works a guaranteed number of hours per week, filling in for ill or vacationing coworkers. This role is perfect for someone who's adaptable, adventurous, and interested in working on a regular basis and with a variety of ages.

If you’ve worked in a formal child care environment or have studied early childhood education, you’re a great candidate for this role, and you already know that teaching and child care is HARD work.  It’s about more than meeting physical needs – it’s about understanding another human’s experience and finding ways to help them on their personal journey.  At ChildRoots, children’s needs are our primary focus, but we recognize that adults need support and encouragement, too, so on a day-to-day basis, we try to truly “see” each other and to create a supportive, compassionate workplace experience.

One way we demonstrate this commitment is pay equality. Child care is a low-margin/low-profit industry that struggles to compensate workers adequately, and we are no exception.  People and their efforts are what make this business run, and payroll is by far our biggest expense, so we are very thoughtful and intentional when it comes to employee compensation.

All ChildRoots Support Staff start at $18.75/hour because we think it’s important to give qualified candidates the same earning opportunities.  We also offer annual merit-based pay raises (up to $0.50/hour per year).

We believe strongly in offering full-time employees resources and time for self-care, too, so we offer excellent health/vision insurance (we pay 80% of the cost), dental insurance (we pay 80%), life insurance (we pay 100%) and a 401(k) retirement savings plan with a generous company match. We also offer paid Holidays, a weeklong Winter Break, and opportunities for professional development throughout the year to help everyone meet the Office of Child Care’s continuing education requirements.
