Major Functions:
Under the supervision of the Dental Director, the Clinical Staff Dentist performs all dental duties for the betterment of the health centers patients. .
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates ability to provide general dental care activities.
- Maintains case histories, examinations reports, and other medical records in the approved format.
- Develops and documents appropriate plans for the management of problems identified.
- Promotes preventive care and heathy lifestyles for all patient lifecycles.
- Assists in the development and implementation of the Dental Care Plan.
- Coordinates services with other center providers, local specialists, and community resources.
- Remains accountable to the Dental Director regarding the daily operations of the dental clinic.
- Follows established health care standards and protocols for each dental service and program.
- Ensures confidentiality of patient information and records.
- Participates actively in Performance Improvement and quality assurance activities.
- Maintains complete, up-to-date and accurate problem oriented medical records.
- Works to ensure the productivity and effectiveness of the dental staff, in terms of utilization and patient satisfaction.
- Attends classes, workshops and seminars as appropriate to maintain clinical competency and stay informed of changes in community health.
- Assesses, diagnosis and treats dental problems of the health center’s patients.
- Maintains licensure and certification as required by job description.
- Demonstrates professionalism at all times when representing the organization.
- Facilitates patient flow through the center.
- Works as a member of the health care team and assisting in the education of patients and the target community in preventive dental care and health maintenance concept.
- Prescribes appropriate treatment, including education, therapeutic and phacological.
- Serves clients with referral for those needs that goes beyond the scope of practice.
- Performs other work related duties as necessary.

- Current licensure.
- Maintain required credit for licensure.

Relationships: Directly responsible to the Chief Operation Officer, Chief Executive Officer, requesting organizational elements, department heads, receiving parties and vendors.
Educational/Skills: Graduate from an approved school of dentistry, with a doctoral degree (DDS or DMD); a valid Mississippi dental license, and unrestricted privileges under the Controlled Substance statues of the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Mental Demands: knowledge of basic management and coordinating health care operations. Demonstrate skills of written and oral communication, including coaching, counseling, planning, monitoring of operations and patient flow throughout the sites.
Physical Demands:
Must continuously listen, visualize and have dexterity and eye-hand coordination, ability for grasping and speed work. Must frequently sit, squat, reach, use both right and left forearm rotation and walk. Must occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, left and carry, push and pull in excess of 50 pounds.
