Principal Function:
Provide leadership, planning, and oversight for all aspects of the Youth Ministry at Unity Prayer Center Church in order to disciple and grow the youth and their parents into a closer relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ
Ministry Responsibilities:
• Create and execute a long-term vision for Unity Prayer Center’s youth ministry.
• Lead and organize effective youth programs implementing fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism, as well as ministry and mission opportunities.
• Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers to assist with youth programs.
• Prepare and deliver biblically based sermons to the youth and periodically in the absence of the Senior Pastor in the event of illness or vacation.
• Promote an environment where students feel connected to each other as a church family; where each student is valued and encouraged to grow in the Lord.
• Invest and engage relationally with youth.
• Seek to integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries.
• Support Unity Prayer Centers parents in effectively fulfilling their Christian parenting roles, in concert with other pastoral staff.
• Provide biblical counseling and spiritual direction to team leaders, students, and their parents on an individual basis as needed.
• Create fun and meaningful opportunities for youth to connect and grow together.
• Provide clear communication to youth and parents of events/activities.
• Explore and implement outreach events to connect students and families in the local community to our church community.
• Promote the unity, direction, and vision of Unity Prayer Center by participating in staff and leadership meetings.
• Develop a full year calendar that will accomplish our mission and vision for youth ministry
• Carefully plan, submit, and manage an annual youth ministry budget.
• Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Skills/Qualifications:
• Meets the qualifications of a pastor as outlined in 1 Timothy and Titus.
• Maintains regular devotion time with the Lord through prayer and study of God’s Word.
• Gifted and called to youth ministry, loves young people, and has a passion for evangelism and outreach.
• No experience in leading youth ministry required, but (preferred).
• Is an engaging teacher, with a strong biblical and theological background.
• Organized, prepared, punctual, proactive self-starter with a positive attitude.
• Willing to become an engaged member of Unity Prayer Center.
• Thrives within a team environment; with the pastoral staff, the deacons, church staff, committees, and volunteers.
• Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision; flexible to changes in procedures and/or direction.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• Possesses strong computer skills & familiarity with social media tools and their use for ministering to youth.
• Must be able to pass background check and drug screening.
Part Time Starting salary $20,000-$30,000
