Meliora Academy is a small private school designed to provide intensive and comprehensive educational services to students with autism spectrum and related disorders. Meliora's special education program provides students with an integrated curriculum model designed specifically to reduce the fragmented learning that often occurs with youngsters on the autism spectrum. Based on the findings of an initial comprehensive assessment, a data-based instructional curriculum as part of a transdisciplinary teaching program is designed for each individual student utilizing research-based interventions including, but not limited to, ABA. 

Special Education Teacher Job Summary: The special education teacher should be open to designing creative, hands on curriculum as well as be able to understand the need for adapting the instruction to meet the student’s individual needs. The ideal candidate would be someone with energy who has a passion for supporting the education of students who cannot be served in the public school setting. 

Requirements: -Bachelor’s Degree required; Master's Degree preferred -CT Department of Education 165 Certification -Must have recent experience teaching students on the autism spectrum -Data collection, following behavior plans experience preferred. 

Special Education Employment Details: -Meliora follows a typical school calendar including a 7-week summer program. -Caseloads are typically 6-8 students. -Salary: $71,000.00 - $81,000.00 per year
