Description

 

HCA Solutions is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Medical Assistants for the Health Service Department at FCC Coleman at 846 NE 54th Terrace, Coleman, FL-33521. The weekly schedule will normally consist of 8am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), will include a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

 

Medical Assistants may perform the following duties:

 

1. Blood specimen collection, packaging and shipment to referral laboratories with knowledge of maintaining appropriate records. (Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens).

2. Taking medical histories

3. Explaining treatment procedures to patients.

4. Preparing patients for examinations

5. Assisting the physician during examinations

6. Performing basic laboratory tests under CLIA regulations.

7. Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant)

8. Transmitting prescription refills as directed

9. Medical orders such as taking electrocardiograms, wound care and changing dressings, obtain vitals, fecal occult testing, rapid and PCR test such as COVID, HIV, etc.

10. Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to), answering telephones, welcoming patients, updating and filing patient medical records, coding and filling out BOP forms, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admissions (medical paperwork for trip) and laboratory services; handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping as determined by Health Services policies and Health Services Administrator.

11. After BOP training: she/he knows, understands, and consistently complies with BOP information security policies, procedures, rules and regulations such as:

Reporting known or suspected incidents immediately to the Information Security Officer. Using BOP computers only for lawful and authorized purposes.

Requirements

 

  • Medical Assistant Programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) that passed the exam CMA (AAMA)® Certification and have credentials in the field.
  • Must provide proof of experience of at least six (6) months as an MA. The Contractor must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Provide a resume and requested documentation along with copy of all diplomas and/or certificates to support stated qualification.
  • Three (3) letters of reference must be provided for the MA.

  • Current Physical
