Summary:

WINTER is a private, non-profit organization that provides young people and women with opportunities to develop themselves academically, professionally, and personally.  We do this by involving young people and women in a combination of services, including but not limited to; education, support, employment training, job placement and community service activities.

 

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Director of Operations the Job Developer Coordinator position is a grant

position that will be in effect for 16 months. This position is responsible for the successful partnerships with PLA and Local Hire employers, unions, and apprenticeships. Ensuring the placement of 200 women graduates. She/he will conduct outreach and assess training needs with const ruction partners, unions, apprenticeship programs, community groups and other constituencies and will create and develop marketing/recruitment materials, education materials and curriculum based on the results of needs assessments. The Job Developer will have primary responsibility for job placement of clients. She/he will oversee all aspects of program placement in high-wage jobs. The Job Developer will represent WINTER in the public arena, publicizing WINTER programs and identifying opportunities to collaborate and to develop new collaborations. Also, The Job Developer ensures that goals are met and activities are following all grant conditions.

·         Maintains a current working knowledge of union construction in the community; maintains effective working relationships with apprenticeship coordinators, signatory contractors and subcontractors’ employers, parole/probation officers, social services agencies, registered apprenticeships, schools and other resources in the community to facilitate services for clients.

·         Places women in Unions, Apprenticeships

·         Conducts recruitment of new employers to secure union sponsorships.

·         Plans and organizes special activities, union tours and events for participants.

·         Oversees all aspects of program delivery and will teach and coordinate workplace skills and other topics.

·         Assist case managers in preparing women for employment and conducts follow-up services

·         Maintains all required documentation and provides monthly, quarterly and annual program reports.

·         Maintains and inputs client’s information on our electronic data collection systems.

·         Will create a model recruitment program and its materials, such as videos, and colorful brochures.

Special Note:

As an organization with a strong social mission, job responsibilities are likely to change considerably over time.  The Job Placement Coordinator must be flexible in her/his approach and willing to contribute extraordinary effort and judgment to learn from what works and what doesn’t and change approaches based on these learnings.

 

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

·         Working knowledge of employment placement, training and development.

·         Working knowledge in nontraditional careers for women.

·         Working knowledge of how to establish innovative initiatives.   

·         Ability to work with and motivate women of diverse backgrounds and abilities, as they pursue their goals.

·         Ability to effectively work in an environment characterized by multiple simultaneous demands, changing priorities, and a heavy workload.

·         Ability to develop and complete yearly work plans

·         Experience and ability to plan and lead outreach classes, workshops and community education efforts to educate women using innovative education principles in formal and/or informal contexts.

·         Must be open to innovation.

·         Experience and ability to work with establish gender-based norms.

·         General computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PrintShop, Adobe, and Publisher.

·         Ability to travel in Southern California and the USA

 

AND

Experience/Education:

·         Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Business, Public Administration, or

·         A degree or a certificate program in community development or organizing, social or social justice or social change.

·         One year of prior experience as a job placement specialist, jobs navigators or community organizer in non-profit agency working in the field of

social service programs/job training and development

 

Other Requirements

Valid Driver License, insurance and reliable transportation

 

Salary and Benefits:     

$66,666 for 16 months with a package benefits totaling $81,835. This is a full-time non-exempt position

Expected Measurable Outcomes

  • Create and implement recruitment plan.
  • Create, modify and generate reports utilizing standard report writing protocols.
  • Create and implement an initial orientation for prospective participants
  • Established procedures for monitoring job training programs.
  • Support ongoing solution-based training for staff, mentors and apprentices
  • 500 women will be introduced to nontraditional employment opportunities.
  • 250 women will receive in-depth assessment, education, orientation and bootcamp programs.
  • 225women will receive construction pre-apprenticeship/job training services.
  • 225 women will establish individual education and career plans (IECP).
  • 200 women will enter partners registered apprenticeships, construction employment.
  • 100% of women placed will be enrolled in retention and support services case management.
  • 95% of women place in unsubsidized employment will be retained at a minimum of 1 year.
