About the Client:

A law firm in Newport Beach, California is looking for a Litigation Attorney. This would be a Hybrid position. The Law Firm practices in the following areas:

  • Labor & Employment

  • Construction

  • Land Use & Eminent Domain

  • Corporate & Business Transactions

  • Appellate

  • Business & Civil Litigation

  • Environmental

  • Insurance & Risk Management

  • Trust & Estates

 

Who we are looking for:

An Associate Attorney who will contribute to practice area specific case workloads and tasks. This individual will be organized with strong attention to detail to ensure all casework is handled with exactness and efficiency. They will work with a managing partner of their practice area, manage assigned cases and leads, and ensure the daily tasks are completed. This person will work with paralegals and legal administrative assistants within their practice area.

 

What you'll do:

  • Conduct legal research and produce research memoranda

  • Communicate with and advise clients

  • Draft pleadings, including initial documents, final settlement documents, motions, discovery requests/responses, and disclosure statements

  • Conduct depositions

  • Attend court and ADR hearings, as well as conferences and meetings

  • Represent clients at mediations and settlement conferences

  • Serve as assistant trial counsel

  • Negotiate case settlement/resolution

  • Comply with all California law statutes, rules, and cases

  • Perform administrative and management functions related to caseload

What you’ll need:

  • Licensed in California to practice law

  • Law degree

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 4-6 years of experience at a law firm

  • Military experience preferred

  • Proficiency in Word

  • Attention to Detail

  • Organization

  • Knowledge in eDiscovery platforms, CCC Macros, Expert Time, IManage, and Titan File preferred

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Medium to advanced proficiency in Excel

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • Excellent problem-solving ability

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with persons of diverse social, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds

  • Valid driver’s license
