DDG Maintenance Mechanic

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Job Description

The maintenance technician is responsible for performing duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, USDA, and preventative maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

Essential Functions
 

1. Perform duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
2. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment.
3. Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, robotic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
4. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
5. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
6. Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
7. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
8. Comply with OSHA, NFPA, USDA, City and County Utilities, and other regulatory agency standards.
9. Maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Many locations in the plant have a room temperature at or below 45 degrees and some areas are below 32 degrees.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This is a full-time position and hours may vary based on the assigned shift and the needs of the company.
