Shifts and typical working hours: Afternoon/Evenings (starting time 3:00-3:30pm –– ending time 7:30pm)
Mornings: Saturdays (9:45am –to– 14:00pm)
Kumon is the world's largest after-school math and reading enrichment program, currently enrolling over 4.2 million students in 50 countries and regions around the world. We are seeking energetic and motivated individuals to join our team (Chicago Kumon Math and Reading Centers)
Job Summary: Our Primary Instruction Assistant works with children of all ages in developing reading and math skills utilizing Kumon Method, worksheets and other supplemental materials.
Responsibilities:
- Observing/Helping students completing their work and Instructing students when necessary, using Kumon Method (working with students between the ages of 4 and 14).
- Recording thoughtful notes regarding students’ various areas of learning/development.
- Listening to students read aloud and instructing to improve their oral reading as well as their comprehension / writing skills.
- Grading students' class work and homework during downtime.
- Greeting students and making them always feel comfortable.
- Working in a friendly, team environment to help make class a success.
- Light admin duties and data entry.
Qualifications:
- Must love working with children; must have a positive attitude and a professional demeanor:
- Experience: relevant, (1-2 years Preferred).
- Education: currently in High School or Higher Ed (Preferred higher ed or grads or relevant work)
- Proficient in basic math and English Reading/Language Arts:
- Preference given to candidates who are comfortable up to high school math and language arts.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment; be adaptable, eager to learn.
- Ability to multi-task and apply training to various scenarios (employees will be trained on our specific grading and instruction techniques upon hire – Kumon method Full Training will be provided).
- Ability to work with up to 4-6 students at the same time.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality – must be reliable.

Hours: Candidates must be able to work a minimum of 2 days/week in the afternoon for 4-5 hrs. (up to 4 days/week) in any combination from the following shifts (preference to candidates who can work 3-4 days):
· Mondays: start time 2:00-3:30pm to end time of 7:15-7:30pm
· Wednesdays: start time 2:00-3:30pm to end time of 7:15-7:30pm
· Thursdays: start time 2:00-3:30pm to end time of 7:15-7:30pm
· Saturdays: 9:45am-2:15pm
Salary: $12.50 to $15.50 /hour – We pay competitive salary commensurate with experience and efforts at work
