Company Overview:

Hera Biolabs is a life science contract research organization driving research advances in genome engineering and live animal model development for pre-clinical studies. 

Hera is seeking Animal Technicians to carry out day to day tasks involving laboratory research animals (mice and rats).

Job Description:

The animal technician position includes providing daily husbandry of laboratory mice and rats including health observations, handling and restraint, feeding and watering, changing cages, laundering scrubs, preparing tools and reagents for autoclaving, and sanitizing animal procedure rooms and equipment.

All assigned study procedures will be performed in accordance with OLAW and standard operating procedures. This position requires weekend or holiday work on a rotational or as needed basis.

Duties (but are not limited to): 

·        Animal husbandry (feeding, water, cage change)

·        Daily health checks

·        Breeding and tissue collection for genotyping, animal identification

·        Vivarium operational checklists

·        Stocking vivarium, rotating stock in warehouse, and putting away new orders

·        Cleaning and autoclaving tools and scrubs

·        Maintaining lab organization and cleanliness

·        Packing soiled cages to ship for recycling

·        General lab maintenance, cleaning, and organizing

·        Data recording, assisting with necropsies

 

Reports to: Executive Director or Assistant Director, In Vivo Division                                      

 

Required Qualifications:

·        High School Diploma or equivalent

 

Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities: 

·        Ability to self-start, follow through on tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

·        Work and communicate in a collaborative environment.

·        Ability to solve problems quickly and multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

·        Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.

Position type:  W-2

This is a part-time position and does not include benefits.
