Dog Daycare Counselor
Do you love dogs? Do you want to work with dogs but don’t know how to get started? Sit! Stay! Play! has been loving, teaching, and caring for dogs in our community for 20 + years! We are regarded as Tucson’s premier dog daycare because of our great employees and our dog-friendly values. Working at Sit! Stay! Play! means:
· Extensive training. Our employees receive at least 3 months of formal and hands-on training before being assigned to their own group of dogs.
· Small playgroups. We maintain a ratio of one team member per 15 dogs in large playrooms. Safety is our #1 concern.
· Continuing education. Established team members are provided with mentorships and the opportunity to attend dog training school, grooming programs, online courses, and conferences.
· Great teammates. You will share your day with great no-drama team members who care deeply about providing an optimal experience for our dog guests.
The details:
· SSP is open every day of the year. After training, you may be working some weekends. We all share the responsibility of working some holidays. The dogs need us.
· Our hours are 6 am – 8:30 pm. Most employees train during the morning shift and complete training in the afternoon shift. We do our best to accommodate team member’s preferred schedules, but sometimes that doesn’t happen…just being real.
· SSP is a positive reinforcement facility. That doesn’t mean we never say no. It means we teach dogs (and people!) by rewarding the behaviors we prefer. If you have a preference for compulsion based training, we probably are not a good fit.
· We work in close proximity with one another. As a team we decided to require that team members be vaccinated against COVID. We understand that not everyone agrees, but this is what we do.

**Wages depend on experience, but most inexperienced staff members earn $14 during training and receive increases after successfully completing training. Team members may take dog training classes and bring their qualified dogs to daycare at no cost after the completion of training! **
