Title: Policy Advocate
Reports to: Director of Communications & Advocacy
Location: Spring Institute’s main office, supporting and visiting program locations in the Denver Metro area as needed. Flexibility to maintain a hybrid schedule between office and remote work.
Status: Full-time, exempt position with benefits
Salary Range: $50,000 - $56,000

Role: The Policy Advocate is responsible for advancing Spring Institute’s policy goals aligning with our mission to empower people and organizations to succeed across languages and cultures. This position will primarily be responsible for convening and representing the organization to key stakeholders and decision makers and for conducting research and analysis to support the organization’s established and evolving policy priorities. Example issue areas impacting immigrants, refugees, and the welcoming community include language access and justice, mental health and health equity, socioeconomic equity, adult education and workforce integration, refugee resettlement, immigrant legal rights, and early childhood education and care for dual language learner families.

Organizational Information: Founded over 40 years ago to provide intensive English language training to Denver's international students, Spring Institute for Intercultural Learning is now home to a range of services and programs designed to strengthen intercultural connections in a vibrant community that includes immigrants, refugees, and all who welcome them. We strive to empower people and organizations to succeed across languages and cultures through adult and early childhood education, youth engagement, specialized career coaching, resource navigation support, language access services, and policy advocacy.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
-Maintain and build new relationships with key stakeholders, including providers, community-based organizations, government agencies, and policy makers
-Organize, convene, and report out on stakeholder meetings
-Represent the organization at key meetings related to priority initiatives, including occupational licensure and immigrant subcommittee meetings
-Monitor, research, and analyze state and federal regulations, legislation and policies that may impact immigrants, refugees, and the welcoming community throughout Colorado
-Conduct and analyze research on immigrants’ perceptions and needs regarding integration services
-Develop briefs, fact sheets, other materials to educate and inform target audiences on policy priorities
-Help develop and deliver organization’s advocacy priorities to policy makers and other stakeholders
-Coordinate Spring Institute’s Policy Advisory Committee, a community-based group that meets regularly to inform Spring Institute’s advocacy priorities and strategies
-Collaborate with the Early Childhood Education Policy Advocate and mentor research fellows to implement Spring Institute’s advocacy strategies

Education/Experience: Postsecondary degree in education, public administration, public policy, political science, communications, or related field or equivalent work experience required. At least three years of similar or related work experience in policy advocacy preferred. Experience working with the immigrant/refugee community ideal.

Skills/Knowledge:
-Excellent verbal and written English language communication skills
-Knowledge of Colorado General Assembly/legislative processes
-Advanced interpersonal, communication, and networking skills
-Strong research and analysis skills
-Ability to work independently
-Bilingual or multilingual a plus
