Science Teacher
Join Mr Bond Science Guy to make science fun, cool, and easy! We teach hands-on science classes for kids aged 5-12 and everything we do is highly engaging and FUN!
We are hiring for our after-school club teacher position, which will be part time between the hours of 2-6pm Monday-Friday. We expect to have two clubs per day, one around 2:30 or 3pm and another around 4:30pm. We work in schools all over town, but especially in MNPS schools. Our classes last 45-60 minutes long and are for up to 25 kids per class.
Responsibilities:
-reading lesson plans ahead of the class day to be clear on the procedure, materials, skits or scripts, and set-up/clean-up for each activity. A binder with all of these will be provided, as well as online access. Lesson plans have all been created and scheduled out so you don't have to think about that!
-picking up materials weekly from our Lab location in East Nashville, including looking through the kits while referencing the lesson plans and shopping for any perishables. All receipts will be reimbursed weekly.
-dropping off materials on Fridays after club to ensure they will be available for the next teacher in a timely manner.
-returning all materials in the state they were found--orderly, no trash, etc.
-keeping an eye on all of the kids to be sure they are being respectful, safe, where they need to be, etc
-setting the tone for the club: You are the person everyone looks to for rules and guidance, but also ENERGY! You're the cool, fun teacher that the kids love to learn from!
For this position, some of what we are looking for includes:
-confident classroom management technique
-Big, campy smiles and a happy disposition! Kids and parents want to be greeted by a super friendly face!
-Patience and grace when working with kids with big emotions and differing abilities
-Be extremely prepared with both experiment content and materials
-Professional behavior, including punctuality, cleanliness, clear communication, attentiveness, consistency, and kind regard for other teachers and kids
-A LOVE of teaching! This position requires energy, fun, and excitement for learning and working with kids.
-Experience working with kids between the ages of 5-12 and confidence with classroom management at this age.
We will begin hiring and training ASAP and the position begins mid August and will continue through the school year!
