Student Mentor Coach
This position will have you working with high school students to help prepare them for the college application process. You will be developing goals with them and setting timelines for them to complete assignments; conducting personalized college and scholarship searches; evaluating mock interviews, communicating with parents on their student’s progress, and managing family expectations. You will learn about enrollment trends, the financial aid and merit award process, and how to evaluate award offers. It is a perfect position for those with a passion for helping high school students advance their educational, personal and professional growth.
Job candidates must possess the following characteristics:
Must obtain a bachelor's degree from a college or university
Willingness and enthusiasm to mentor high school students to find their best-fit colleges and achieve their goals
Ability to maintain deadlines; Candidate must be organized and versatile to handle busy workload of student meetings.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Excellent social skills to engage students and communicate with parents. Phone skills are essential.
Strong reading and writing skills to assist in completing the common application and any appeal letters, if necessary
Working knowledge of social media (i.e. Facebook, Linked-In, and Twitter)
Professional manner, groomed in dealing with the public
Ability to work as part of a team in helping students with all aspects of the college planning process
Willingness to devote time and energy to student needs; Candidate must be approachable and accessible at all times.
