Responsibilities:
The Assistant to Freight Broker plays an integral part in supporting our Freight Broker in coordinating shipping logistics, maintaining business relationships, and ensuring overall customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will aid in organizing shipments, communicating with clients and carriers, maintaining and organizing shipment files, and ensuring the team meets the transportation needs of clients.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Support the Freight Broker in daily operations, ensuring all processes run smoothly.
2. Assist in the development of shipping logistics, contracts, and reports.
3. Manage the tracking of shipments and ensure timely completion of deliveries.
4. Coordinate with various internal departments and external carriers to deliver efficient logistics solutions.
5. Maintain and organize digital and physical shipment files and databases.
6. Compile and analyze shipment data to help identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement.
7. Act as a point of contact for clients and carriers, delivering high-quality customer service and escalating issues when necessary.
8. Assist in the preparation of meetings with clients and carriers, including taking meeting notes and action items.
**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
1. Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Previous experience in a logistics, shipping, or customer service role is preferred.
3. Strong organizational and project management skills.
4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
6. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
7. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work output.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
**Physical Requirements and Work Environment:**
The position will primarily be office-based, and you may need to sit and use a computer for a long period of time. Some domestic travel may be required to client locations.
