Emerging Minds Montessori Academy is actively hiring for a Montessori Preschool Assistant Teacher/Guide (ages 3-6) for the 2023-24 academic year (August 2023-May 2023).

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

•This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, salaried position. The full salary range for this position is $25,000-$32,000 per year. Starting salary will vary by qualifications and prior experience. Opportunities for advancement, full time benefits which include paid sick and holiday/vacation leave.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•18 years or older
•One or more years of experience working with children
•Ability to meet all credentialing criteria for lead early childhood teachers in Florida (please see here for a summary of credentialing criteria)
•Ability to meet all additional training and eligibility requirements of Florida, including clearing background checks, tuberculosis tests, and so on, with required documentation eligibility and training completion submitted through each state's respective childcare regulatory agency prior to start of employment

RESPONSIBILITIES

Montessori assistant works under the guidance of a Montessori teacher to provide support in a Montessori classroom setting. The primary role of a Montessori assistant is to assist in creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young children.

Some of the key responsibilities of a Montessori assistant may include:
•Supporting the Montessori teacher in implementing the Montessori method of education.
•Assisting with the preparation and organization of materials and resources for the classroom.
•Observing and monitoring children's activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
•Providing individualized attention and guidance to children as they engage in activities.
•Facilitating group activities and promoting social interaction among children.
•Helping in diapering and toilet training.
•Maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment.
•Collaborating with other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning community.
•Attending staff meetings and professional development sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
•Upholding and promoting the Montessori philosophy and principles in all aspects of work.
•Lift up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally to care for young children safely
•Assume postures at low levels (e.g. kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor) as needed to communicate effectively with children

In addition to these responsibilities, a Montessori assistant should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with children. They should also have a genuine passion for working with young children and a commitment to fostering their holistic development.
