• High School Diploma • Minimum Age 20 • 1-3 Years Coaching Experience preferred • Team Unify/Meet Manager • Participation in CYSL League for competition (virtual meetings, communication, etc.) • 9-11 hours/week for in-water practices; 1 hr/week for Dryland Practice (can be delegated) and Meets 4-8 times per season (8+ hrs) and traveling • Will be required to complete the following trainings: YMCA Coaches Safety Training, YMCA Principles of Swimming and Diving, Praesidium Child Abuse Prevention Training, Basic Life Support, and Lifeguard Certification (in and out of water). • Cooperation with YMCA Staff • Adhere to YMCA policies, objectives and rules • Strong Organizational and Management skills • MUST maintain clear and consistent communication with parents. • Good knowledge of competitive swim rules • MUST emphasize sportsmanship and team spirit, and be enthusiastic, positive, and lead by example. • Commitment to equal participation. • Teaching and perfecting skills in all 4 strokes, turns, diving, breath control, race strategy (short and long distance), and water confidence. • Ability to determine swim levels, analyze technique, and implement the proper training in technique, speed and endurance. • Must be able to create Long and Short term strength, endurance and technical swim sets/training programs • Ability to use creative drills, videos, and dryland training to assist in keeping the swimmers interested, motivated, and well rounded. • Ability to manage coaching staff and their training requirements • Ability to manage volunteers for meets, practices, parties and team parents • Ability to manage team size and logistics (only so much time and so many lanes; can’t overcrowd, need swimmers in each age bracket, etc.) • Ability to manage team suiting coordination with TYR, creation and purchasing/sales of team shirts per season, management of team equipment and needs. • Team party, awards, etc.
