Designer
User Interface Designer (UI Designer)
Sea Monster is seeking a User Interface Designer to join our high-performing team based in Cape Town. We are looking for an individual with a passion for making a difference in the world and delivering value to our clients.
This role will mostly be remote, with the option of working in our Cape Town office. However, during the first three months, regular office presence will be required until the probation period ends.
This is a permanent position with a three-month probationary period.
Key duties include:
•Working closely with our UX designers and Art Directors.
•Creating UI concepts.
•Following look and feel style guides.
•Working with client CI guides to achieve the above.
•Conducting user research and gathering feedback to inform design decisions.
•Selecting colours, typography, and visual elements for user-friendly interfaces.
•Optimising designs for various devices and screen sizes.
•Incorporating user-centred design principles and best practices.
•Conducting usability testing and iterating based on feedback.
•Collaborating with developers for accurate implementation.
•Staying updated on design trends and technologies.
•Presenting design concepts and solutions to stakeholders.
•Ensuring the accessibility of UI designs.
•Documenting design decisions and processes.
Required experience:
•Proven experience as a UI Designer or in a similar role.
•A strong portfolio showcasing UI design work.
•A solid understanding of user-centred design principles and best practices.
•Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively articulate design concepts and ideas.
•Attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistency in design systems.
•Understanding of accessibility principles and guidelines.
Required skills:
•Proficiency in UI design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), or similar software.
•Knowledge of wireframing, prototyping, and visual design techniques.
•Strong understanding of user-centred design principles and best practices.
•Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
Beneficial skills/experience:
•Tertiary Education beneficial
•Contributing to look & feel style guides.
•Illustration skills.
