Purpose: The mission of St. Vincent Meals on Wheels (SVMOW) is to prepare and deliver nutritious meals to homebound seniors and other vulnerable residents across Los Angeles regardless of age, illness, disability, race, religion, or ability to pay. The program operates Monday-Saturday and Holidays. Duties are determined by the facilities needs and may include, but are not limited to the following:
• The Dietitian will perform nutrition assessments, diagnose nutrition-related problems, determines and implements appropriate interventions, and monitors and evaluates outcomes of interventions.
• Completes the screening and recordkeeping of clients.
• Provides nutrition education and/or nutrition counseling to clients, family members, and/or caregivers as a component of preventative, therapeutic, and/or restorative health.
• Reviews diet orders as part of the evaluation process. Explain menu modifications/substitutions to patients
• Provides quality services based on patient’s expectations and needs
• Communicates with clients to investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality, service, or accommodations.
• Adheres to Standard Operating Procedures developed by the city and county of Los Angeles.
• Ensures continued compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Submit written reports to administration as necessary.
• Deliver meals to centers and Home Delivered Clients (HDM) clients as needed.
• Performs other tasks as necessary and appropriate when assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• Registered by Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD/RDN) or eligible to take the National Registration exam
• One (1) year clinical experience, preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish is required
• Strong interpersonal skills
• The ability to work with diverse staff and volunteers in a team environment
• Demonstrates a positive attitude
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to read and follow directions, road maps, and/or other instructions.
• Valid California Driver’s License and clear DMV record.
• Background Fingerprint Clearance
• Drug Test Clearance
Physical Requirements:
The performance of duties involves working both at office tasks and in kitchen assignments and the physical abilities to both stand and sit for prolonged periods and lift/move objects of 30 pounds or more.
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions to meet quantitative/qualitative standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance
• Ability to deal with the public in a professional manner
• Ability to work with a diverse client population, staff, and volunteers in a professional and respectful manner
