Overview: Job Coaches work 1:1 with individuals with developmental disabilities to support them in securing integrated community employment. As a job coach, you will meet in person with individuals to help them apply to and interview for employment opportunities that match their specific employment goal. Once employment is found, you will support them with on-the-job training to help them become independent within their role. Job Coaches are required to document their support and submit monthly reports to a supervisor.
Description: This role offers flexibility with scheduling and hours. You will communicate directly with the individuals you work with to schedule weekly meetings during the job search. At CHILL, we put staff and the individuals we serve first. We are seeking self-motivated staff who are interested in being part of our team and who also possess the ability to work independently.
Job Duties:
Communicate effectively with each individual and all members of their support team including their DVR counselor, family/guardians, host home providers, etc.
Communicate effectively with potential employers and community members to develop relationships and educate employers about the DVR process and services.
Support individuals with the application and interview process and any additional communication with potential employers.
Facilitate job trials and skills assessments to identify the client’s skills and preferences within different work environments.
Provide 1:1 on-site coaching and mentorship to help individuals develop hard skills and effective communication with their employer and coworkers.
Model appropriate work behavior and offer support to redirect inappropriate behaviors.
Promote independence by helping individuals identify natural support persons within their workplace to utilize when you are not present.
Keep ongoing communication with employers to ensure long-term stability.
Document all services and support provided and submit weekly and monthly reports to the supervisor.
Qualifications/Requirements:
At least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is strongly preferred
Experience working with DVR or with assisting adults with developmental disabilities in securing employment is strongly preferred
Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills
Professional and positive attitude
Willing to work with a team while showing initiative and confidence working independently
Outstanding attendance and ability to self-direct
Valid Driver’s License and CPR/First Aid certification (training will be provided if needed)
Safe vehicle that passes CHILL’s vehicle safety checklist and willingness to transport clients
Must pass/complete CHILL’s training requirements
Must pass criminal background check and be legal to work in United States
Must complete ACRE Basic Employment Services Certificate Training within 90 days of employment
Compensation:
Starting hourly pay is $18/hour with opportunities for raises
$200 bonus for each successful job placement
Health/Dental/Vision benefits offered for staffing working at least 24 hours/week with employer contribution
