We are a commercial fishing company based out of Vancouver, BC currently looking for factory workers for our freezer trawler the Osprey No. 1, 58 m, 2024 gross ton freezer stern trawler built in 1998.
The Osprey No. 1 catches fish that are headed, gutted and frozen on board. The fishing and factory operations work 24 hours/day with crew working a 6 hour on 6 hour off shift rotation. Trip length varies between 14 - 18 days depending on daily production. Crew trip rotation is 2 trips on, 1 trip off. The Osprey only fishes in Canadian waters off the West Coast of British Columbia.
Main Responsibilities
All crew members are required to work in the factory in addition to normal ship board duties. In the factory crew are responsible for processing, weighing, and packaging fish in the factory and general cleaning. Any responsibilities associated with a Bridge Watch or OFA 3 certificate are done alongside factory duties. You must be willing to work a 6-hour rotation shift for the duration of the trip.

Requirements

Certifications
· Commercial Fisher’s Registration Card
· WHMIS Certification
· Have a valid Canadian passport / PR / Valid Work Permit
· Valid Bridge Watch Rating Certificate (if applicable)
· Valid OFA level 3 Certificate (if applicable)
Experience
· Commercial Fishing an asset but not required
· Trawl Boat experience an asset but not required
Compensation and Accomodations
This is a permanent position with competitive compensation.
$3,000 - $5,000
Onboard accommodations include a 2 person stateroom, semi private bathroom shared between 2 staterooms. Laundry on site. There will be 3 hot meals provided daily along with cold meals between 11pm and midnight. There is a lounge onboard that offers satellite TV along with couches and a separate reading area.
