Camp Kabeyun, an overnight camp for boys ages 8-15, located in Alton Bay, New Hampshire (directly on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee) is seeking counselors for the summer of 2023!
Employment Dates and Compensation: June 17th - August 19th, 2023, with a starting salary for first-year staff of $3,250 (certification bonuses also available); housing and meals are included
Since 1924, Kabeyun has endeavored to provide a unique and supportive environment for our campers to explore new and challenging experiences, develop new skills, and discover their individual capacity to accomplish whatever they set their mind to. While Kabeyun's camper population is all boys, we hire counselors and staff regardless of their gender identity. We believe a diverse and varied team of staff and counselors helps us have a greater impact on our campers, and helps us promote a culture of acceptance and inclusion.
We are currently hiring for a number of open in-camp activity positions, including: Windsurfing, Photography, Drama, Leather, Sailing, and Arts and Crafts. We also have openings in our Trips Department, which involves leading out-of-camp adventures in: Hiking, Rock Climbing, and Flatwater and Whitewater Canoeing and Kayaking. Trips range from one day to overnights, with some multi-night extended outings as well.
In addition to leading an activity, Kabeyun's counselors assume responsibility for co-supervising (along with at least two other staff members) a cabin of between 6-10 campers throughout the summer. Counselors work six days a week, with one full day off per week.
While current certifications, past experience, and technical expertise are valued in potential candidates, Kabeyun is interested in any applicant who believes in our mission and wants to help enrich the lives of our campers.
Interested Candidates Should:
-Be interested and excited about working with kids
-Be willing and eager to engage with all aspects of the camp day
-Have experience in, or a passion for, the particular activity you will be leading
-Have the ability to work as a productive and supportive team member
-Have the ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing or unexpected situations
