Parent Coordinator
Global Village Academy is an innovative charter school. Students learn core content through language immersion in their choice of French, Spanish, Mandarin, German or Russian (depending on the school). GVA is truly a "global village." Our immersion teachers come from all over the world, each bringing their unique culture and language into the classroom. United by a common core, students are challenged to become world class thinkers, capable of engaging ideas using multiple languages and cross-cultural perspectives, through internationally benchmarked curriculum spanning each language village.
Summary:
Increases parent involvement in the school by working closely with all school, parent, and community organizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Increases parent involvement in the school by working closely with all school, parent, and community organizations.
Serves as a facilitator for parent and school community concerns and issues including school policies or facilities issues.
Conducts outreach to engage parents in their children's education.
Convenes regular parent meeting and events around topics of key concerns to parents.
Attends parent meetings with the principal, where appropriate.
Works with the school parents to re-establish a PTO.
Maintains ongoing contact with community organizations that are involved with providing services to the school's educational program.
Organizes back-to-school and engagement events and activities to increase parental and community involvement and creates a welcoming school environment to parents.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience in parent/family engagement activities.
Excellent organizational skills.
Associate's Degree preferred.
Spanish speaker preferred.
