Job Description – Summer Day Camp Counselor
Game Changers is a faith based non-profit organization that shows the love of God to homeless
under represented children in the Midlands. We do this by caring to physical, emotional,
academic and spiritual needs. We also provide life changing experiences to underserved youth in
the Midlands. We accomplish this by providing them with enrichment programs and educational
opportunities.
This is a full time position for 8 weeks from June 5 – August 4, 2023. Hours are (7:15 am to 4:30
pm) or (8:30 am to 5:30 pm). This position is paid a weekly stipend. The person who applies
must be very dependable, have a positive attitude and have a genuine enthusiasm for working
with children. They also need to be flexible and willing to learn new skills. Because we work
with children, they must be able to pass a background check. For an additional level of pay, you
can lifeguard or be willing to be certified to lifeguard.
Summer camp counselors perform various functions; below is a job description that shows the
typical tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the role:
Lead small or large groups on crafts, swimming, family night, and various other camp
exercises
Monitor campers to identify and respond to unruly behavior or deviations from camp
guidelines
Advise Camp Director when to contact parents to relay information regarding their
children’s camp experience and behavior
Maintain accurate record of camp activities and data such as attendance logs and incident
reports
Act as a role model for campers in activities which require cleanliness, punctuality, and
sportsmanship
Able to execute plans for daily activities that are given from the Camp Director
Mediate disputes or conflicts between campers to ensure a peaceful environment
Participate in singing, storytelling, and sporting activities
Mentor and tutor children on academic/social topics such as behavior management,
reading, peer pressure.
