Lead Teacher

Under the Authority of: Child Development Center Board Site Report: Center Director Type of Position: Non-exempt Employee Remuneration: $14.00-$16.00 per hour Optional employee enrollment in:

Retirement, pension and disability Paid days off pay based on scheduled hours

The hours of office operation for teachers will fall between 6:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.- Monday thru Friday.

Minimum Qualifications:

M BA/BS in Education or CDA

1+ years teaching experience Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills * Professional demeanor and personality - Active member of a Christian congregation

This position will require a satisfactory background check throughout the term of employment.

The Lead Teacher is responsible for the academic and social-emotional growth/development of the children within their care, which may include working with children from 6 weeks through preschool age. The Lead Teacher will develop partnerships with the parents, co-workers and administration to ensure the program and the daily activities within the classroom are consistently deployed and communicated. The Lead Teacher is responsible for assuring compliance with the standards of the CDC and state licensing regulations.

The Lead Teacher will:

Develop both long and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy. Create weekly plans utilizing the age appropriate curriculum to engage children spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally and submit to the CDC Director for review.

-Provide a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that sustains all health and safety standards.

-Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child as a unique individual.

-Maintain ongoing open communication with parents and team members through weekly newsletters and individual progress reports as outlined across the school year

-Maintain up-to-date notes about each child to be utilized when a substitute is in room - Report all classroom concerns to program manager and/or director in a timely manner

-Report any suspected abuse/neglect to supervisor . Maintain anecdotal records and reports (i.e. accident and behavior reports)

-Maintain confidentiality regarding all students and CDC business

-Encourage assistant teachers to contribute to curriculum and activity planning

-Maintain First Aid and CPR Certification Supervise assistants, aides and volunteers in the classroom

-Keep all appropriate records, such as student achievement, attendance and student daily reports as assigned Inspect and arrange for replacement of damaged or lost materials

-Participate in on-going in-service and professional development opportunities to maintain the CEUS per year outlined by Virginia Licensing standards

-Attend mandatory staff meetings and extra-curricular events related to the program

-Recognize the need to have flexibility in scheduled times of work and even assignment to meet the needs of the center and families

-Work as a team member to assist with additional duties as assigned by the director or assistant director

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
