Kilt Farm is a dynamic 80 acre Certified Organic farm in Boulder County, Colorado. We grow over 100 different varieties of vegetables for distribution through our 350 member CSA program, on farm sales and to wholesale customers throughout the Fort Collins/Boulder/Denver Metro area. JOB DESCRIPTION
The Greenhouse Lead is a Full Time Seasonal position, starting in February 2023 with high season being from February through November with potential to move to a year round role. Our work week runs Monday through Friday 7:00am to 6:00pm with an hour lunch and rotating Saturday shifts. At high points in the season we may start a little earlier and finish a little later but we strive to work no more than 50-60 hours a week.
Greenhouse Lead Responsibilities Include
Maintaining Greenhouse facility including temperature and ventilation
Ensuring the proper handling and growing of all starts
Maintain seeding schedule for all crops in multiple seeding configurations
Seeding with tools including vacuum seeder, paperpot seeder and hand seeding
Manage irrigation throughout the greenhouse, germination chamber and hardening off areas
Maintain greenhouse supplies
Train and manage farm staff on seeding and greenhouse practices as needed.
Work with Farm Owner and Farm manager on seeding plan
Ensure plants are ready for transplanting as per the planting plan.
Qualified Applicants must have the following skills or experience:
Passionate about organic agriculture and plants
2 years minimum Greenhouse, Farm or similar experience
A leadership role in any past positions
Ability to work solo or lead a team depending on tasks
Computer literate and willingness to learn our software systems
Clean Driving record (for insurance purposes), reliable transportation
Ability to operate manual transmission
Non-smoker that has a positive outlook, emotionally mature, strong role models and leader.
The successful applicant will have the physical ability to work in our greenhouse or outside daily in all weather conditions including rain, snow, summer heat of 90-100 degrees, stand for long periods of time, and an ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
COMPENSATION
this position is : hourly, $15-20/hr
