Amazing high-profile family in MIDTOWN is seeking a FULL-TIME NANNY / HOUSEHOLD MANAGER to keep their household running smoothly and primarily care for their autistic and non-verbal 14-year-old daughter. This candidate must be willing to help with household chores such as light cleaning, laundry, and meal prep. Additional duties include meal prep, cleaning up after the kiddos, doing the 14-year-old's laundry & keeping play areas and kitchen tidy, and helping assist with bath and bedtime routines. Parents have flexible schedules, but require some flexibility in return. The position is LIVE OUT. Housing is not provided.
They are looking for someone who has a background working with Special Needs and who is committed to keeping their daughter safe, helping assist with daily activities (dressing, eating, etc.), drop off and pick up from school, and helping with potty training. She wakes up around 5-6 am and attends school from 9 am-3 pm Monday-Friday. You are required to drop off and pick up from school (family car provided). MUST HAVE A CLEAN DRIVING RECORD. They also have a 17-year-old- girl and a 10-year-old boy who are self-sufficient and really would only require care if both parents are gone or if they need help whipping up a simple meal.
They live in Midtown, in the heart of the city, and are within walking distance of trendy restaurants and shops. Their daughter has speech therapy at school, but they would also like to add additional therapies. Someone from the school will work with her at home in the afternoons. They would love to have the nanny shadow to implement things they are working on, which are mostly daily skills (brushing teeth, making the bed, establishing a routine, teaching her how to wash the dishes, cleaning up after herself, etc.).
The ideal candidate is energetic, vibrant, fun-loving, responsible, organized, patient, and athletic (she is a fast runner!). She loves to swim and you are expected to go in the pool with her, so must be a competent swimmer!
Priority is given to candidates with experience working with children or adults with special needs. A plus if you have a background or education in speech/occupational therapy! This is a great opportunity for those interested in working in therapy as there are many opportunities to develop those professional interests and skills.
There are also excellent educational opportunities at colleges in the area, as well as groups and workshops focused on autism in the community. They run a foundation, and would love your assistance within the non-profit, if that is something you are passionate abotut. The most important thing in a caregiver is honesty and following the family’s methods in working with the kids. They are fun and laid back family and are happy to try to incorporate their nanny in their family activities if desired. At the same time, they will also respect your right and need for privacy. Must love dogs, as they have a labradoodle who does not require care.
Start date is ASAP. Benefits include paid holidays. Pay is open DOE.
