Residential HVAC Field Diagnostics Specialist

A day in the lifeYou start your morning with a well-planned route and a stocked service vehicle. From a heat pump making a strange noise to a mini-split that needs a quick coil cleaning, you diagnose, tune, and repair a variety of residential (and occasionally light commercial) heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. You communicate findings clearly, present options, perform routine and emergency fixes, and leave each home tidy and safe. Throughout the day, you document your work, follow safety protocols, and recommend upgrades that improve comfort and efficiency.
What you’ll do- Service, clean, adjust, and repair HVAC equipment, including air handlers, ductwork, supply/return vents, and condensate drainage systems.
- Diagnose performance issues and complete service work on residential HVAC systems to restore optimal operation.
- Offer professional solutions and recommendations tailored to customer needs.
- Maintain an organized work area, uphold safety standards, and complete detailed service records.
- Perform inspections, make system adjustments, and assist with upgrades as needed.
- Handle additional duties as assigned.
- 2–5+ years of HVAC experience, ideally in residential service.
- EPA Certification required.
- Valid driver’s license with at least three (3) years of driving experience required.
- Expert troubleshooting and critical thinking abilities for complex HVAC problems.
- Positive attitude and pride in high-quality workmanship.
- Customer-first mindset; strong communicator with all levels of an organization.
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable in fast-changing environments.
- Lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Climb ladders; access attics and crawlspaces; work in tight areas; push, pull, carry; use hand tools; perform fine, detailed tasks.
- Drive regularly as part of daily duties.
- Work indoors and outdoors, including attics and crawlspaces.
- Stand, walk, and sit; talk and hear in person and via phone.
- Use hands to handle or feel controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently stoop, kneel, bend, and crouch.
- Work in extreme temperatures (hot/cold) and adverse weather (wind, rain, ice, snow).
