A client of AlphaStaffHCM™ is seeking a Medical Assistant for a Women’s HealthCare company to assist physicians/CNMs/NPs with patient care, clerical, chart management, environmental and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the practice services. Conveys a positive image for the practice. May be assigned to specific medical task GYN and/or OB triage, calling and notifying patients of lab results and plan of care as directed by provider and prescription refills. All patient phone conversations will be documented in the EMR.


Location: 775 Poplar Road, Suite 210, Newnan, GA 30265


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules at the beginning of the day and organizing patient flow communicating this with the medical assistant assigned to assist; setting up and assisting in care in the patient exam / procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, process orders requisitions and properly labeling specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; performing screening per provider guidelines; assisting physicians/CNM’s/NP’s/nurses with various procedures; charting; relaying instructions to patient / families; answering calls, return patient calls and e-mails as directed by the physician, handle prescription requests from the phone messages, e-mail, tasks or as directed by the physician, ensure lab results are communicated to the patient; signed and documented in EMR, communicate regarding schedules with the physician at the end of each day and retrieving voice mails and providing pertinent information to staff and patients, completing consents and orders, give injections, complete tasks assigned, give injections and draw blood if needed.
  • Demonstrates clinical knowledge of treatments and procedures ordered by provider.
  • Knowledge of the EMR and ability to locate reports, labs, and implementation of the appropriate EMR record as needed for specific patient needs. Thorough and timely documentation in the EMR in preparation of the patient for their appointment. 
  • Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending / receiving patient medical records (to include document imports and Epic); obtaining lab / x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Responsible to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
  • Reviews and inputs data into EMR with focus on accuracy and completeness. Update Facesheet and pull in appropriate templates in the EMR system.
  • Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include: setting up instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; clean sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records; ordering, sorting, storing supplies; restocking exam / procedure rooms, biohazard collection/boxing, checking for expiration dates on samples/specimen applicators/tubes, cleaning instruments according to OSHA requirements, washing laundry and terminal cleaning in exam/procedure rooms
  • Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned which may include: respecting/ promoting patient’s rights’ responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and / or staff with supervisors quickly.
  • Assists provider in ensuring appropriate coding is documented on super bill to include insurance specific requirements.
  • Works as a team member and offers assistance when finished with assigned or shared duties. Compliance with corporate policy and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Completes orders tracking of labs for assigned provider.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Environment:

  • Standard schedule is Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • This role includes travel once or twice a month to the Fayetteville location.


Qualifications

  • Active Georgia nursing license (RN or LPN).
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience preferred as a Medical Assistant, preferably in and OB/GYN office setting.
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Must have current certification from CMA, ABR or RMA.
  • Experience using Epic EHR preferred.
  • Skill in performing medical assistant tasks appropriately, not limited to: vital signs, orthostatic vital signs, obtaining accurate and detailed patient history and complaint, urine screening utilizing urine dips, collecting urine culture, venipuncture/blood draws,  labeling and handing of specimens, assist with treatment and procedures, and documentation of data into EMR.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the operation and routine maintenance of all clinical equipment used in the practice, including, but not limited to:
  • Scale, height chart
  • Fetal Heart Monitor
  • Endometrial Suction Device
  • Cryosurgical Instrument
  • Sphygmomanometer
  • Stethoscope
  • Autoclave
  • Microscope
  • Colposcopy
  • LEEP



Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly pay approximately $19/hr. - $21/hr. depending on experience.
  • Medical insurance provided/paid by the employer for the employee.
  • After 90 days of employment, employees receive their initial set of company‑issued uniforms.
  • Each year thereafter, employees receive a uniform voucher.
