Summary
We are representing an established, employee-owned mechanical contractor seeking a talented Project Manager / Estimator to join their growing team. This hybrid role is ideal for a candidate who brings both preconstruction estimating skills and project execution experience in the HVAC/mechanical space.

This contractor self-performs HVAC and piping scopes across a variety of commercial sectors, offering a stable pipeline of work and a collaborative team environment. As an ESOP company, employees have long-term equity incentives and a vested interest in company success.


Key Responsibilities

Estimation & Preconstruction

  • Prepare accurate conceptual and hard-bid estimates for HVAC and mechanical scopes

  • Perform material and labor takeoffs from plans and specifications

  • Solicit and analyze subcontractor/vendor quotes for buyout and budgeting

  • Participate in site visits and pre-bid walks

  • Assist with design-build estimating and early-stage budgeting

  • Support value engineering and scope development in coordination with clients

Project Management

  • Lead awarded projects from preconstruction through closeout

  • Manage client relationships, contracts, and subcontractor coordination

  • Oversee submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation

  • Track cost, schedule, and manpower performance throughout the project lifecycle

  • Coordinate with field teams for installation sequencing and equipment delivery

  • Ensure safety, quality, and compliance with jobsite expectations


Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC estimating and/or mechanical project management

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems – sheet metal, piping, hydronic, chilled/hot water

  • Proficiency with takeoff and project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, QuoteSoft, MS Excel, etc.)

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specs, and mechanical plans

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience preferred
