“Accuracy of Parent Reports of Early Speech and Language Development”
This research will examine the concurrent validity of the parent report measure of the Language Development Survey (LDS) when paired with the MacArthur-Bates Communicative Development Inventories: Words and Sentences (CDI:WS), another commonly used parent report measure. These two parent reports were used in association with the Rossetti Infant Toddler Language Scale. The Rossetti was used to test the correlation between parent reports and this particular standardized assessment tool. The purpose of this study is to determine how closely related the scores are from the parent report instruments to one another and how closely they agree with a third measure that utilizes more than the parent report alone. This study will also be examining interobserver agreement between primary caregivers and third-party respondents on parent report measures.
