I have taught one of my students (a beginner) to read music, play notes, and put together a clarinet. She is currently
working on learning to play short songs.
My other student has moved up a chair in her high school band, can now sight read more confidently, and is more
excited about band than when she started lessons.
In teaching lessons I have demonstrated patience, problem solving, and musical ability. I have to coordinate with my
students as well as their parents and my employers.
Oneonta High School Marching Band - Oneonta, AL

I worked as a wood wind instructor for the Oneonta High School Marching Band at their summer band camp. During
that week I supervised 20 clarinets during sectional time. In sectionals, I worked one-on-one with students, organized
memorization groups, and demonstrated marching techniques.
During full band marching time, I supervised the entire 60+ group of wood winds (clarinets, saxophones, and flutes). I
instructed marching techniques, drill downs, horn angles, and show song rehearsals.
I also assisted the band director in drill placement.
I helped many struggling students to understand their music and memorize it. I also helped improved many of their
I demonstrated patience, understanding, time coordination, organizational skills, and musical/marching ability.
