US FIRST is a national non-profit organization that was created 20 years ago to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
Washington FIRST Robotics (WFR) is the non-profit organization that delivers US FIRST programs in Washington State.
FIRST was founded by Dean Kamen, the inventor of the Segway. He came up with the idea of challenging students to build robots and a series of competitions for teams that combines the elements of a sports event with a rock concert. If you are a self-starter interested in events and event marketing, you may want to consider a 10-week full-time internship with FIRST to help us produce three events in the first half of 2013.
You will work directly with the Regional Director for US FIRST in Washington to plan for the 2012-13 school year including workshops, training sessions and competition for students K-12.
Applicants need to live in the Seattle area and are looking for a career in sports, events, sales, marketing, sponsorships and event management. This is a hands-on internship that will help you learn about events from A to Z.
