SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Research
• Engaged in qualitative research and evaluation concerning ethical and efficacious interventions of clinical trials testing antiretroviral pharmaceuticals as HIV pre-exposure prophylaxes.
• Conducted ethnographic fieldwork within HIV prevention and treatment programs and the administration of the iPrEx clinical trial – a trial testing the efficacy of Truvada (an antiretroviral pharmaceutical) as a pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV – involving men who have sex with men (MSM) who engage in high-risk sex, public health officials responsible for HIV-prevention programs, clinical trial investigators and clinical trial participants.
• Constructed a literature review, bibliography and synthesized key points regarding recommendations for instruments to aid health care organizations in effectively implementing new innovations, and evaluating the effectiveness of technologies to improve care transitions and reduce readmission rates.
Management
• Management of editorial board for an academic journal through peer-review, copy-editing, and publication processes.
• Led students, faculty and staff in the production of group events.
• Organized and coordinated a political demonstration in protest of a California ballot initiative.
Communication
• Communicated with faculty members of numerous anthropology departments to solicit articles, and manage the development of manuscripts through peer-review, copy-editing and publication processes.
• Recruited the submission of academic articles from anthropology students of universities across the nation, including UC Berkeley, Stanford, Harvard and Chicago.
Leadership
• Founded a blind peer-reviewed journal for anthropology undergraduate students; built, organized and managed a staff of students from UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC San Diego and McGill University.
• Constructed course curriculum, planned lessons and facilitated a seminar discussion among UC Berkeley undergraduate students.
