I participated in member-initiated community service projects that strive to collect food, clothing and funding for children and families in the DC/Metropolitan area. I have also participated in family policy advocacy and research projects that attempt to explore and theorize family issues in the community and the state.

Tutored seventh and eighth grade children in the subjects of grammar and writing.
Tutoring Latino boys at the San Miguel School allowed me to gain perspective on the difficulties surrounding poor Latino families.
YMCA, Head Start, Silver Spring, MD December 2004-April 2005
I was able to set up age appropriate games or help the children with interactive learning games on the computers provided by the YMCA.
Volunteering with the Head Start Program at the YMCA allowed me to help enhance children’s learning experiences and help teach them creativity, sharing, self-control and socialization.
