Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY at www.hoby.org), America’s premier youth leadership organization, provides leadership development programs for high school students throughout the United States and internationally and promotes political awareness, activism, and community service. HOBY seeks a creative enthusiastic, well-organized individual to serve as the Development/Communications Intern at its international office, reporting to the Communications, HR & Development Manager. This position’s primary responsibility is to support the work of this multi-hat manager.

Duties include: Document preparation and editing; online research; data entry and analysis; CEO assistance and support; handling some shipping and receiving; miscellaneous fundraising mailings; event planning assistance and other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Completion of freshman year in college required. Interest in non-profit work a plus. HOBY Alumnus or volunteer a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of databases and social media is a plus. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required. Ideal candidate must be available Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays and have a positive “can do” attitude.
Profile: This is a great first internship experience for someon seeking knowledge of multiple areas of non profit departments. HOBY has a solid track record of providing the experience and résumé development assistance needed to get a subsequent paying internship. Employer is flexible and understands that the interns may need to have another part-time paying job at the same time.
