Calling all Experienced Web and Marketing students

 

Are you experienced in Web Design and Development? Are you an outgoing, personable student who would be an effective ambassador of a brand? This is the opportunity for you!

The Opportunity:
A small, dedicated, team of students from Chicago-based colleges and universities is being sought to launch Chicago’s premier online lifestyle newsletter for students and young professionals.

The free weekly online newsletter will provide for a fun, engaging and current resource to figuring out best-pick daily activities in Chicago.

This is an excellent opportunity for students to engage in a start-up environment that is striving to enrich the lives of students and professionals in Chicago.

Your Role:
You will be a valued team member and will have a meaningful impact in shaping and building this publication. The work environment will require strong performance in both team and individual pursuits. All students will work closely with the founder to achieve maximum results. Depending on your role, you may be interacting with Chicago’s student and alumni population and some of Chicago’s leading business and social entrepreneurs and professionals.

Positions Available:


1.    Web Design & Development and Illustration: Flurie Media is looking for person(s) experienced in Website development, graphic design and illustration.
a.    Web Developers: experience with PHP, MYSQL, JavaScript and AJAX as well as CSS is advantageous. Please have examples of your work available. Pay negotiable.
b.    Graphic Designers: This person will work with the Web team to develop the website design and newsletter layout as well as the brand logo. Experience with computer graphics and design software is required. Please have prepared a portfolio of past work. Pay negotiable.
c.    Illustrators: Several aspects of the newsletter will require original pieces of illustration. Students with and without formal training in illustration are invited to apply. This is a great opportunity to get great exposure in the Chicago scene. This is an unpaid position.

2.    Marketing Coordinator: The Marketing Coordinator will work closely with the founder to successfully complete two functions: 1) Market Research: You will develop and execute research efforts to gauge student interest in this proposed newsletter. Data gathering techniques may include surveys, in-person interviews, and focus groups. This feedback will be invaluable in finalizing the publication’s content and design. 2) ‘Go-to-market’ Strategy Design: You will be designing and proposing an integrated marketing plan to reach the Chicago student community and create buzz around the publication. Three interns are being sought for the Marketing Coordinator position.  This is an unpaid position.

3.    Talent Recruitment Coordinator: The publication’s success will be dependent on a strong team of writers. The Recruitment Coordinator will work closely with the founder to identify and recruit quality writers in Chicago for this publication. This is an unpaid position.
