Hello!
My name is Holly Rogers, I am a nineteen year old college student taking some time off. I am interested in continuing to work with children, as it relates to my intended career path. Therefore, I am currently searching for a family in need.
I graduated from Fremd High School in Palatine, IL June of 2007. This past fall I was enrolled at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI pursuing a Secondary Education degree with a concentration in english and a minor in psychology. However, I returned home half way through spring semester (by my own personal choice, I assure you) because of financial reasons. I will be returning to school eventually, though I'm not sure when; my plan is to pursue a double major at Columbia (creative writing and illustration) so that I can one day write children's books. I am smoke free and lean towards healthier choices in my life. I took a child development course in high school and we even sponsored a preschool for children ages 3-5, where we all had a child to work with one on one, as well as had a chance to lead the classroom as a whole.
I have been baby sitting since I was ten years old and I've been CPR certified for infants and children, as well as adults, since then. I volunteered for two summers at a daycare center in a preschool room during high school, in charge of nap time, reading time, art and of course, play time. I have three younger, beautiful sisters that I've helped to look after since birth. My sisters are currently aged from 5-14, so I've had baby sitting experience with all sorts of ages. I just finished working with a family with one boy, two years of age. However, the job was short term and as of early June I have not been committed. Children tend to gravitate towards me. Sometimes when I hang out with a friend, I end up spending more time with their younger siblings by accident. I love waving at babies in restaurants or making faces on the train; anything to see a child smile, really.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
I look forward to hearing from you!
