Photography student looking for assistant postion

I am a student, currently engaged in classes on my way to a degree in photographic technologies.  As much as I am learning at class and on my own, I see it much as learning a new language.  I can pick up enough to squeak by, but being at class a few times a week in not enough. 

Photography is a large part of my life.  I hope to make it my entire career and make an even larger part of my personal life. 

The best way I can think of to do this is to find a position as a photographic assistant.  I am also interested in a position at a photography store or as a film developer and printer. 

I have a basic level of knowledge about photography already, but I have only recently started my classes.  I want this job to learn as much as I can and become immersed in the photographic world.
