Angel Pets of Houston is growing! We need to hire a Groomer. You must have your own clippers, blades, scissors, etc. We will set you up with our unique "In Home" mobile grooming setup including a portable grooming table, plastic drop cloth, towels, a small shop vac, high power blow dryer, and more. You will travel to the clients home and set up inside the house to groom (or outside in nice weather). This is a unique, high demand, and fun service! Read more about how it is done on our web site. You will be a full-time or part-time employee, not a contractor.
We pay 60% of grooming fees, PLUS .40c a mile. You keep all tips!
Requirements:
1 year experience or comparable training. New groomers still in school, or just out of school are welcome to apply!
Strong - Able to lift 50lb dog - able to go up and down stairs with 20lb equipment.
Must be able to kneel on floor and give a dog a bath in the tub.
Must be physically fit enough to set up table and equipment plus groom and bath dogs, and take down all equipment and load back in your car 4 to 6 times a day, it is great exercise!
Must be confident enough to groom in front of the client. Most clients will go in another room if dog is acting up so that is not an issue but we almost always allow the owner to watch and even help soothe a frightened pet because we specialize in grooming difficult pets. You must be confident and patient with difficult pets.
2008 or newer model vehicle because you will drive around to appointments every day, it must be VERY reliable.
Vehicle must have room for the folded grooming table and a large bag of supplies (those listed above). It will fit in most trunks or backends except very compact cars. I have a Kia Soul and it all fits in the way back.
Confident with all types of pets, as we specialize in difficult ones.
Must have a smart phone or Ipad and use text, email and GPS navigation to find your appointments. (car GPS is ok)
Must be highly 'wired' - schedules change and I notify you by email or text, you must be 'on' to get these messages any time.
Must be clean looking and well groomed and over 18 years of age.
Must be a people person, able to talk to strangers (the client).
Must be willing to tell client if you accidentally cut their dog instead of just covering it up. Clients appreciate honesty.
Must be able to be positive and talkative to the pets you groom, since we are grooming in front of client it helps to say "good dog" and "it's ok" and stuff like that to reassure the client we are being thoughtful and kind while grooming their dog.
If you do not absolutely LOVE grooming and LOVE pets, please do not apply.
You will be given an Angel Pets polo shirt and name tag and will also put an Angel Pets magnet on your car when on the job.
It does not matter where you live. Our clients are all over town. We service from Tomball down to the south loop and mostly stay on the West side of 45.
You will do 3-6 appointments a day between 8 am and 5 pm. You can work evenings and /or weekends if you want to. You will get 65% after 5 and on weekends if you choose to but it is not required. You could do every other weekend and only 2 nights a week, and that is fine too.
