* Successfully submitted and managed grants and applications entailing: family services, education, child welfare, early intervention, mental health, addictions, education, HIV prevention, familial violence, community safety, adolescent pregnancy, arts and culture, day care, television (we operated a low power television station), senior housing. Am routinely involved in needs assessment/analyses, program planning/development; contract renewal, budget preparation, negotiation and administration Have compiled policy, procedure and program practice manuals, encompassing: child welfare (6 in all), employment, mental health, addictions, child and youth development, community safety, agency personnel, family preservation, case management to those with mental retardation/developmental disabilities, and others. .

* In association with members from a local church, I organized, led and wrote a successful, two year collaborative neighborhood effort to establish a 500 student, K-8 elementary charter school within Buffalo’s impoverished central city; As designed, there was substantial involvement by surrounding community based providers

* Was instrumental in the creation and operation of a child/adolescent mental health treatment center, compiling: initial policies and procedures, job descriptions and performance evaluations, prepared service renewals and negotiated contracts. Within that clinic were two additional specialty programs: 925 STOP – an HIV/AIDS peer education prevention effort and: Channeling Aggression Positively - a 2 part alternatives to violence community intervention – Alternatives to Violence Training and KISS – Kids In the Street Safety (ages 5-7). Again, I had responsibility for initial grant application and operations, contract negotiations and reports. It should be noted as well that there were plans, under my direction, to expand this mental health clinic to incorporate those substance affected.

* Directed a dislocated worker program and followed with two collaborative endeavors: Project STRIVE (a national replication) and the Transition To Work Initiative – the latter a cooperative venture with six related agencies. As well, and with the Director of Youth Services, re-oriented our youth development program to encompass: education and pre-employment readiness training, job shadowing, photographs and essays, internships and placement.
